Homeless Gifts

There is a crisis that we are facing in America when it comes to our veterans. It is hard to know what to do when we look at the homeless veteran population. However, there are things that can be done. Here are four tips that can help you when you are trying to get homeless veterans back on their feet.

Show them that they have a support group

Many times, all that a struggling veteran really needs is to know that there are people out there who care. For a veteran, knowing that there is even one person out there who they can turn to will help them make positive decisions for their future. You can be that person who is truly there for the veteran in need. You can also help them build a support group and network that they can use when they are in need.

Get them the help that they need

There are therapists who specialize in working with veterans who need to get a grasp on their mental health. Many times, the reason a veteran is homeless is that they are battling with PTSD or another type of mental illness. Once you get them into a mental health program that is going to help them sort out their issues, it can be easier for them to start making the right choices in life.

Inform them of the resources available to them

There are many different resources available to veterans in America. Veterans have benefits available to them like VA loans they need to know about. There are also educational benefits that can help a veteran attend college for close to nothing. These are two great benefits that are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the help that veterans can receive. If a veteran is ready to change their life, there are programs and benefits that can help them do this.

Help instill confidence in themselves

When someone doesn’t have any self-confidence left, it is hard for them to feel motivated to make their situation better. It may just take one person telling the veteran that they are worth something to get them off the streets. Building self-confidence doesn’t happen overnight. This is a process that will take time.

These are just a few of the many different tips that can help you when you are trying to get a homeless veteran back on their feet. Remember, patience is very important when you are dealing with a homeless veteran. If you don’t give up, you could be the person that really helps to change their life.

Self-acceptance is an incredibly important part of a person’s journey through life. It shows up in the way a person interacts with others, themselves and in life. When a person completely accepts themselves for who they are, they’re able to show up confidently in the world. A part of self-acceptance involves embracing the physical traits that make a person who they are. This includes those pearly whites. A smile is a huge part of your self-acceptance journey for a number of reasons.

Smiling Make You Attractive

Most people love to be in the presence of other attractive people. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. However, some people package it better than others. The best way to do that is through throwing on a smile. It’s an effortless way to send the message to yourself and others that you like the way you look.

Smiling Helps You Make Friends

A person who wants friends needs to present a friendly disposition. When a person smiles and looks friendly, it also communicates self-acceptance. When you’re confident and reassured in who you are, that comes across in a palpable way.

Smiling Increases Your Confidence

If you’re ever in a position where you don’t feel very sure of yourself, do your best to put on a bright smile. In the midst of feeling unsure, smiling presents the picture that you’re confident and committed to embracing the moment. It doesn’t matter how much you mess up because you’re confident that everything will be okay.

Smiling Lets You Have More Fun

Smiling makes a person appear as though they are tons of fun to hang around. No one wants to be around someone who’s pessimistic, grouchy and mean. People want to laugh, lighten up and have fun. Big smiles and lots of laughter help to take the pressure off.

Smiling Makes a Difference

Smiling really does make the difference. In many cases, there are a lot of people who are stressed, worried and filled with anxiety. Sometimes, it’s the ability to see your smiling face that makes the difference in their day. When they see someone smiling brightly, it can be contagious. When you’re able to subliminally encourage others to be happy by demonstrating happiness, you’re making a difference.

These five reasons display why it’s so important for you to do the work involved with loving yourself. When you truly love who you are, it doesn’t matter who doesn’t love you. It also doesn’t matter if people don’t accept you. When you accept yourself, you can rest in that. Besides, when you can look in the mirror and love who’s looking back at you, you’ve won!

When you’re drowning in debt and unable to pay off your credit cards, bankruptcy may seem like the only option. As Rowdy Williams points out, “when you can no longer pay your debts, it can become overwhelming. For many, that means filing for bankruptcy.” With bankruptcy showing on your credit report for ten years, you may struggle to find employment, get a loan or even find housing. So, consider the following five strategies to pay off your debt and avoid bankruptcy.

Cut Up Your Cards

The first step to financial freedom is to cut up the credit cards. You’ll never get out of debt if you continue using your credit cards, so go back to cash and debit cards. This way you can only make purchases when you have the necessary cash in your pocket or bank account. Credit cards can be a temptation that you should not have to struggle with while trying to get your debt under control.

Eliminate Unnecessary Expenses

You should also review your fixed and variable personal expenses to identify and eliminate unnecessary costs. According to a survey by CBS News, U.S. homeowners spend nearly $2,000 per year on unnecessary expenses, with the most expensive being professional housekeeping at $285 per month. Whether it’s housekeeping, landscaping or premium TV, canceling nonessential services will allow you to put that money towards your credit cards.

Stop Competing

One of the biggest reasons people end up in debt is that they feel like they need to have it all. They need the newest phone, the coolest car, all the latest and greatest. But you really don’t. Stop looking at what your neighbors have and focus on what is going well for you. If you stop trying to compete, you may find that a lot of your money problems will start to get a lot better.

Use the Debt Snowball Strategy

Pioneered by financial expert and motivational speaker Dave Ramsey, the Debt Snowball strategy involves making minimum payments on all your cards except for the one with the smallest balance. For this card, you make the largest possible payment each month. And once you’ve paid it off, you can target the credit card with the next smallest balance.

Talk to Creditors

Don’t give creditors the cold shoulder whey they call. If you’re unable to make a payment on time, explain your situation to the creditor and let him or know when you’ll be able to pay it. Many creditors will waive late fees or even lower your interest rate if you talk to them.
Credit card debt is a significant source of stress for millions of Americans, contributing to anxiety, sleep disorder and a lower quality of life. Following these tips, however, can help you pay off your debt and regain control of your finances.

Let me tell you a story of how we believe God works:
Four years ago, Joshua and Valery Aguirre decided to provide some supplies for the homeless in Orlando. After the support from some of our amazing friends, we were encouraged and led to start a charity. We wrote our own Bylaws, pitched a family meeting and filed for 501(c)(3) status on December 31st, 2014. By the grace of God, we received an approval later only 9 days later. Typically, charities wait 6-12 months for this approval!
Our passion has always been to create a large charity that would cycle multiple causes but I wanted to lead with the homeless cause when I saw a huge problem in the Orlando area after my mom attempted suicide multiple times and there was no significant support system in Florida. Our Mission has always been to provide dignity to the undervalued, where people can feel comfortable donating knowing that 100% of their donations go straight to the cause. Our idea for running a self-sustaining charity for multiple ad-hoc causes was pushed to the back-burner while we spearheaded the first cause, beginning homeless outreaches in three separate cities (Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando & Charlotte, NC).
In 2017, my wife’s family comes along with a plan to create a charity for multiple causes (3 for Three), aligning with our mission and our vision for the future. There is no doubt in my mind that God orchestrates these wonderful coincidences in life. For all those that believe in His vision for our future and for all those who want to see us succeed, we ask that you donate to this cause today.

Cause 1: Sea Rescue

We’re building a team of scuba divers, working together with biologists and the support of community labor to clean 12 acres off the coast of the San Andres Island in Colombia. This beautiful island has been affected due to the accumulation of trash such as cans, plastic bags, bottles, tires, and others on the seafloor.

Cause 2: A Chance for the Homeless

We are creating a platform for the homeless to create art for a living wage. When they find meaning in creating their art, we provide a catalyst for a positive life change within each individual. Our aim is to auction the participants’ art to fund their rehabilitation, instilling a new and beautiful hope for life.

Cause 3: Art Toys Inspired by Terminally-Ill Children

Based on the work of the Hands of Love Foundation in Colombia, we will design collectible art toys inspired by terminal children that are in need of financial and emotional support in their harsh reality. These toys will be sold online in a tailor-made store that tells the story of each child. In this way, we will motivate people around the world to support a child through the purchase of each toy. The majority of income from each sale will provide financial relief to the family of each child.

We provide resources for the homeless in Charlotte, NC as well as Central and South FL by mentoring and teaching them to become self-sufficient through national funding and local partnerships and we’re working to develop systems to abolish human trafficking and build homes for the homeless in other countries.

Our Approach

  • 100% of your donations go straight to the cause
  • We establish the connections from the needy to the resources that they are in need of.
  • We understand that not every person wants to donate to the same cause, that’s why we’re creating a system in place that allows for people to recommend new outreaches to be approved by our board.

Outreaches

  • We center our program on local outreaches to spread the message of hope and to bring the homeless to self-sustainability. Through predefined action plans, we are able to not only provide the needy with supplies but also connect them with local resources where they can help themselves.

We Believe in creating an atmosphere where the public can feel invited to donate because they understand that their donations will directly help someone in need. We are first focusing in our local community and in time extending our reach to cities nationwide and across boarders. Eradicating homelessness, abolishing human slavery, and establishing communities through building homes, are just a few of the projects that are close to our hearts.
